WHY PRECIOUS PRINTS PROJECTS®
In the months after Luke passed away, Jenny came to DJ and I and asked if she could start a foundation in Luke’s memory. We were humbled and honored by this gesture. One of the first decisions we needed to make was, what will the foundation help support? My response was instant, The Precious Prints Project!
Luke’s death was not expected, and it was traumatic. Many things happened that day that I either have trouble recalling, or do not remember at all. I did not know that I would be getting Luke’s fingerprint charm. I did not know about The Precious Prints Project.
Checking the mail had become a very difficult thing to do after losing Luke. You get bills, statements, and other correspondence with your child’s name on it. All of this business continues even when your baby passes away, and each item brings fresh grief. The day I went to the mailbox and found the package from The Precious Prints Project was a different experience. I opened the package to find such a sweet and meaningful gift. I sat and cried that day at the mailbox, but these were very different tears!
The choice to support The Precious Prints Project was easy. Jenny and I are both graduates of the University of Tennessee College of Nursing, and now, I am also a Precious Prints mom. I would not wish this fate on any family, but families that find themselves in this position should have this gift available to them. The Luke Hudson Neil Foundation is here to help support and grow this program and provide this gift to bereaved families. I was wearing my cross when I gave birth to Luke and have paired my Precious Print with this cross. I wear Luke's fingerprint every day.
